Benda Rover 500: A Brilliant New Cruiser With a Name That Might Raise a Few Eyebrows!

Well, Benda has done it again. Another motorcycle has appeared on the scene, another rather interesting design, and this time, a name that might have a few British bikers struggling to keep a straight face.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow us to introduce the rather unfortunately named Benda Rover 500.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Benda. Rover.

Go on, say it out loud. We'll wait.

Now that we've all had a little chuckle, let's talk about the actual motorcycle, because underneath that wonderfully questionable name is something that looks rather interesting.

So, What Exactly Is the Benda Rover 500?

The Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Benda has reportedly revealed a new cruiser called the Rover 500, and while the name might have stolen the headlines, the motorcycle itself deserves a closer look.

From the information and images appearing online, the Rover 500 combines traditional cruiser styling with a more modern, muscular appearance.

Reported features include:

  • A V-twin engine
  • Low-slung cruiser styling
  • A belt drive system
  • Muscular bodywork
  • Side-mounted dual exhausts
  • A mixture of retro and futuristic design

It's certainly an interesting-looking machine, and one that could appeal to riders who enjoy something a little different from the usual cruiser offerings.

At the moment, detailed specifications, UK pricing and a UK launch date haven't been officially confirmed. Reports suggest the bike could arrive in some markets during 2027, but we'll have to wait for more information.

And just to be clear, the Rover 500 isn't a motorcycle we currently have at CMS hopefully it will be hitting the showroom floors 2027. We're simply sharing some interesting motorcycle news and having a little fun along the way.

Who Comes Up With These Names?

Now, we don't know who was sitting around the table when the Rover 500 name was suggested.

Perhaps it sounded fantastic in the original meeting. Perhaps something got lost in translation. Or perhaps someone at Benda has a brilliant British sense of humour.

Either way, we can already imagine the conversations.

"What are you riding these days?"

"I've got a Benda Rover."

And that's probably where the conversation takes a turn that we can't repeat on the CMS website!

We can just imagine the motorcycle forums, the group chats and the jokes that will follow if this bike ever makes it to Britain.

But here's the funny thing. Everybody is talking about it.

And in a world where new motorcycles are being announced all the time, getting people talking is half the battle.

Benda Is Becoming a Brand Worth Watching

Jokes aside, Benda is doing something quite interesting in the motorcycle world.

Rather than simply producing motorcycles that look like everything else on the road, the company is developing some genuinely distinctive designs.

Big tyres, unusual bodywork, bold cruiser shapes and engines that aren't always what you'd expect.

Some people absolutely love that approach. Others might look at a Benda and wonder what on earth they're looking at.

But that's part of the appeal, isn't it?

Not everybody wants a motorcycle that looks like every other bike parked outside the local cafe on a Sunday morning.

Of course, looks aren't everything. Reliability, parts availability, servicing and long-term ownership are all important, particularly for a manufacturer still building its reputation with British riders.

Those are things that become clearer as more motorcycles get out on the roads and owners put some proper miles on them.

But one thing is certain. Benda isn't afraid to try something different.

Benda Motorcycles Are Already Making an Impression

While we wait to see whether the Rover 500 ever makes its way to the UK, it's worth remembering that Benda already has some rather interesting motorcycles in its line-up.

And here at CMS Motorcycles in Exeter, we're already familiar with the brand and its rather unusual approach to motorcycle design.

From traditional-looking cruisers to machines that look like they've rolled straight out of a futuristic motorcycle film, Benda certainly likes to keep things interesting.

Benda Chinchilla 500

First up is the Benda Chinchilla 500, a V-twin cruiser that mixes classic bobber-inspired styling with modern touches.

It's got that relaxed cruiser appearance, plenty of character and a design that doesn't need to shout to get noticed.

It's a lovely example of how Benda can take a familiar motorcycle style and give it its own personality.

Benda Napoleon Bob 500

Then there's the Napoleon Bob 500.

And yes, Benda clearly has a talent for memorable names!

This one takes the bobber look in a much bolder direction, with distinctive styling that makes it stand out from more conventional cruisers.

It's one of those motorcycles that makes you look twice, simply because there isn't much else quite like it.

Benda LFC 700

And then we have the Benda LFC 700.

If the Chinchilla and Napoleon Bob are interesting, the LFC 700 takes things to another level.

With its inline four-cylinder engine, dramatic sport-cruiser styling and serious road presence, this is the sort of motorcycle that makes people stop and look twice.

It's certainly not a shy motorcycle.

Love it or hate it, you can't accuse Benda of playing it safe with its designs.

And that's what makes the possibility of another unusual cruiser joining the range so interesting.

Could Benda Become a Big Name in the UK?

It's an interesting question.

We've already seen how attitudes towards newer motorcycle manufacturers have changed over the years.

Brands that some riders might once have overlooked are now producing motorcycles with attractive designs, modern equipment and competitive pricing.

Benda certainly has the styling side covered.

But the real test for any motorcycle manufacturer isn't just getting someone to fall in love with a bike in the showroom.

It's making sure they still love owning it after a few winters, plenty of miles and the occasional visit to the workshop.

Good motorcycles need good support behind them.

If Benda continues developing its motorcycles alongside a strong UK dealer and aftersales network, it'll be interesting to see where the brand goes next.

Would You Ride a Benda Rover?

So, back to the motorcycle that started this whole conversation.

The Benda Rover 500.

Unusual name? Absolutely.

Interesting-looking motorcycle? We think so.

Guaranteed to produce a few jokes at your local bike meet? Almost certainly.

But putting the name to one side, it's another example of a manufacturer trying to bring something different to the cruiser market.

And we always enjoy seeing new motorcycles appear, even if they give us a good laugh along the way.

Now we want to hear from you!

Would you happily ride around on a motorcycle called the Benda Rover 500?

Do you like the styling? Would you consider owning one? Or would you be asking someone to remove the name from the tank before you took it out for your first ride?

And while we're at it, what's the funniest or strangest motorcycle name you've ever come across?

Let us know what you think over on our social media pages. We have a feeling the comments on this one could be entertaining!

Until next time, ride safe, enjoy the roads, and remember, sometimes a motorcycle name is just asking for trouble!
