From Margate to the TT: Dale’s Royal Enfield Journey Continues

At CMS we’re lucky to have a proper mix of riders in the team.

Some love sports bikes. Some love touring. Some are into classics. And then there’s Dale.

If you’ve been into the shop recently and started talking about Royal Enfields, there’s a very good chance someone has pointed you in his direction already.

Dale Worsley has become the unofficial Royal Enfield man at CMS and honestly, it’s not hard to see why.

He genuinely loves the bikes, rides them properly, uses them for what they’re built for and knows exactly what makes them so appealing to so many riders.

This year he’s also taking things a step further.

To celebrate 125 years of Royal Enfield, Dale has been setting himself challenges, ride-outs and events throughout the year, documenting the journey as he goes with full backing from Team CMS.

Most of those miles are being done on his Royal Enfield Bullet, a bike that’s quickly become a huge part of his life both inside and outside the shop.

A Huge Weekend at Margate

Last weekend Dale headed down to Margate for the legendary Malle Beach Race weekend and what a weekend it turned out to be.

From the moment he arrived, the place was already buzzing with Royal Enfields, custom builds, classic motorcycles and riders from all over the country.

The sun was out, the seafront was packed and the atmosphere looked exactly how a proper motorcycle weekend should.

Dale met up with friends including fellow Royal Enfield riders on Bullets and Interceptors before the weekend properly kicked off.

And thankfully, he also had his partner Ann alongside him for the trip who apparently took on the roles of navigator, organiser, mechanic, tea supervisor and probably the person responsible for making sure Dale remembered where he parked the bike after a long evening in the beer tent.

Safe to say Dale was in good hands all weekend.

Saturday brought the madness of the beach racing itself.

For anyone who’s never seen the Malle Beach Race before, it’s absolute organised chaos in the best possible way. Riders blasting across sand, water, bumps and crowds while trying to keep both bike and rider pointing in roughly the same direction.

Dale gave it everything out there and by the end of the weekend it sounded like the bike, the riding gear and probably even his socks were completely full of sand.

Sunday then brought heavy wind and proper seaside weather trying its best to send everyone back towards Exeter early, but it didn’t stop the weekend being an unforgettable one.

There were beach races, packed ride-ins, evenings in beer tents, loads of laughs and plenty of Royal Enfield pride flying around all weekend long.

Safe to say Team CMS was proud to see Dale out there representing the shop and enjoying every minute of it.

Not Every Ride Goes Perfectly

One thing Dale has been honest about throughout this whole journey is that real motorcycle ownership comes with real experiences.

That includes the good bits and the frustrating bits.

And unfortunately for poor Dale, the drama didn’t actually end once Margate was over.

On the way home, his van decided it had also had enough excitement for one weekend and broke down around two hours from Exeter.

Thankfully the AA came to the rescue pretty quickly and managed to tow them safely home.

After surviving beach racing chaos, wind, sand, long miles and a packed biker weekend... being defeated by the van probably wasn’t quite how Dale imagined the trip ending.

Still, it all adds to the story.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride

There’s not much time for Dale to rest either.

This Sunday he’ll be taking part in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, joining riders across the world raising awareness and support for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research.

The event has become massive within the modern classic and retro bike scene over the years and it’s exactly the sort of event Royal Enfields feel at home in.

Classic styling, relaxed riding and good people all coming together for a brilliant cause.

Next Stop... The Isle of Man TT

As if Margate and the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride weren’t enough, the following weekend Dale will be heading over to the Isle of Man TT on the Bullet as well.

He’ll be travelling out alongside friends including Simon Warren, whose race team competes at the TT.

For any biker, a trip to the Isle of Man TT is something special.

The atmosphere, the racing, the roads and the history around the island make it one of the biggest events in motorcycling anywhere in the world.

And doing that journey on a Royal Enfield Bullet feels very fitting somehow.

Why Dale Loves Royal Enfield

One of the reasons we wanted to share Dale’s journey properly is because he’s not someone reading spec sheets online and pretending to know the bikes.

He rides them. Properly.

He lives with them, tours on them, attends events on them and understands exactly what sort of rider they suit.

At CMS he’s quickly become the person people naturally end up speaking to when they’re interested in Royal Enfield motorcycles.

Whether it’s the Bullet, the Classic, the Interceptor or another model in the range, Dale’s always happy to chat honestly about how they ride, what they’re like to own and why so many people are falling back in love with simpler, character-filled motorcycles again.

And this is only the beginning.

Over the coming months we’ll be documenting more of Dale’s rides, events and adventures properly across CMS socials and here on the blog too.

There’ll also be future blogs written by Dale himself, giving real rider opinions on the bikes, longer-term ownership thoughts, touring experiences and behind-the-scenes stories from the road.

So if you’re thinking about getting into Royal Enfields, want to know more about them or simply fancy talking bikes with someone who genuinely rides them, pop into CMS and have a chat with Dale.

Chances are he’ll either be talking about Royal Enfields already... or planning the next adventure on one.
